Some thoughts about prayer — 03/28/20
I’m sort of using this place as a place where I can come to pray/write my thoughts before the Lord. It’s great when I cannot concentrate on prayer but I still want to spend some time with the Lord.
I recently (just now) got side-tracked and was looking up prayer in other religions. I just read a great article that does a fantastic job at showing prayer throughout different religions and how they differ/are similar to one another. Here’s the link: https://www.britannica.com/topic/prayer/Forms-of-prayer-in-the-religions-of-the-world . This has got me thinking, prayer in Christianity is not that different than other religions. Actually all aspects of prayer from what I’ve seen can be found in other relgions. What makes Christianity unique? Nothing when it comes to prayer. Maybe their is something so naturally unique about lifting our requests to someone who we think must be greater than us. I guess prayer is natural.
I looked through some of the other entries titled prayer on this website, seems as though all are from a Christian perspective, I could have guessed. But most seems to have a positive take on prayer, that it isn’t a bad thing although in one cynical story a guys prayer journal got posted around the church revealing that he had cheated on someone.
I’m going to get onto my prayer.
Lord I lift up to you my family. Thank you for them Lord, thank you for bringing them together during this trying time. I honestly believe that part of the reason you sent them home was so they could be with my brother, so thank you for doing that. I pray that you bless them and encourage them.
Thank you Lord for how good you are, and how your love can never escape us. Bring me into deeper revelation of who you are and all that you’ve done for me and for others. Help me spend time with you in the quiet place and give me a passion for prayer. Your ways are higher than my ways and your thoughts higher than my thoughts.
God I pray for the UK govenment please protect everyone here and. bring them to saftey.
hmm I’m going to be honest I feel like blogs are better for bringing thoughts alive than prayers, this feels kind of lame. I’m going to pray on my own right now
