Thank you Jesus for bringing me to the staff house
Bless them and keep them

Thank you for being with me and caring for me
Help me learn your love

Thank you for bringing joy into my life
Help me with my darkness

Thank you for desiring me to be higher
Help soften my heart to your will

Thank you for disciplining me
Continue to discipline my life

Thank you for it all
Thank you for my future
Thank you for my wife
Help her grow

God I trust in you
You are a good Shepherd
You are faithful
You are the same today, tomorrow and forever
You know my thoughts and know me fully
Help me see through this mirror
I want to see you clearly

While writing this I was reminded of 1 Corinthians 13:12, which says: ‘For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.” My immediate thought is why did the author pick a mirror? Since in a mirror you see yourself? Maybe Paul is referring to how when we look at God we see a bit of ourself? Or maybe because humans are made in the image of God it makes sense that we would see something that resembles us? However I think Paul most likely chose this word because of the distortion and fogginess of a mirror, and how really a mirror is not at all a proper way to see the characteristics of someone. Imagine only learning about someone when they are looking into a mirror, you wouldn’t actually learn very much, but when your living with someone you can see everything.

Either way the author goes on to desribe that soon we will see God like we are seeing a friend. Face to face. Until then, I will marvel at this mirror, forever enthralled by your image, as foggy as it may be
